Cock Tales
Since 2004, the Scottish Cartoon Art Studio team have illustrated Cock Tales, a comicbook sexual health resource for young gay and bisexual men. The comics are a collaboration with Healthy Gay Scotland, part of HIV Scotland, which is a body funded by the Scottish Executive. The comic deals with safe sex and condom use- preventing the spread of HIV/AIDS and other STIs- as well as such diverse issues as bullying, coming out, domestic violence and civil partnerships. The comic has been widely praised, not just by young LGBT Scots but across the globe; Cock Tales was exhibited as part of the Glasgay! Festival in 2005 and was the toast of the 16th International AIDS Conference, Toronto, 2006
Tommy's distinctive covers and strips featuring Johnny & Lube, Liam + Bilal and Sammy the Squirrel have been a recurring feature since the beginning and a firm favourite with readers. This gallery features artwork from past issues as well as sketches and rejected concepts that didn't make print.
